Goal Management Training® (GMT) is a cognitive rehabilitation program grounded in neuroscientific principles, designed to help individuals with impairments in executive functioning improve their organization and ability to achieve goals. GMT is administered by a therapist, either individually or in groups, over 9 sessions.
GMT was developed by world-leading clinical researchers in the neuropsychology of executive functions. As a standardized intervention to reduce disability and increase productivity, GMT is in wide use clinically for treatment of a variety of conditions with associated cognitive impairment including traumatic brain injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis, mild cognitive impairment in aging, ADHD, PTSD, substance abuse, depression, and other conditions.
The efficacy of GMT for improving function across a variety of patient populations has been assessed by leading research groups for over 20 years. There are currently several large scale trials assessing the effectiveness of GMT, funded by national and local agencies across the globe.
GMT kits are available for purchase in English and in French through Baycrest.
